the art of photo retouching

The photographs on this page vary in degrees of retouching complexity. Photo retouching is an art and the amount of time spent on it depends on what the final product will be used for. If your end product needs to be larger or printed in high quality offset printing, more exacting retouching work is required. However, the examples on this page were simple ones done for internet, personal use and newspaper publication. Email me for a quote.

A very small amount of time was spent retouching this candid photograph... only to correct the undergarment showing, remove the person that was growing from his head and even out skin tones a little bit.

More time was spent removing the paper which was stuck to this photograph, lightening it, remove the Band-Aids from the grandmother's face and generally making this motherr-daughter generational photograph emerge from the background.

This cast of characters almost didn't make it into our local newspaper because regulations require no less than three people in the photograph yet the original photos were photographed in twos. The original photographs were scanned and digitally put together; output as tif files and sent to the local paper for inclusion. No one was the wiser.
